Central London Humanists are presenting Humanists UK’s One Life: An Introduction to Humanism course. This is the free Introductory Session to the course. You must register on Eventbrite on the link below.
Each session of the One Life course will last for 2 hours (with a break in the middle) and will consider different aspects of Humanism (such as science, ethics, spirituality, mutual responsibility, and religion). Each session will include videos, questions, and discussions in small groups.
We shall present the course via Zoom, using people’s video and audio connections, so participants will need a computer or smartphone.
You must register for this event on Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/one-life-an-introduction-to-humanism-course-tickets-141960992149
The course will take place on Thursday evenings from 7:00 pm London time.
The course will be preceded by an Introductory Meeting on April 8, 2021, that will last 1 hour. People will then have the opportunity to register for the full course. After the Introductory Meeting, we will continue with the main sessions of the course each Thursday for 6 weeks as follows:
– April 8: free Introductory session, 7 pm to 8 pm
– April 15: Introduction, 7 pm to 9 pm
– April 22: Science, 7 pm to 9 pm
– April 29: Ethics, 7 pm to 9 pm
– May 6: Religion, 7 pm to 9 pm
– May 13: People Of The World – What We Owe Each Other, 7 pm to 9 pm
– May 20: Everyday Life, 7 pm to 9 pm
For each of these sessions, we will go online at 6:45 pm ,London time, to give participants a chance to mingle and get to know the rest of the participants and members of Central London Humanists.
People are encouraged to sign up to the full course only if they intend to join all the 6 sessions, so everyone at each session will be able to build on the earlier sessions. We appreciate that some people might not be able to attend every session, but that should be the intention.
We will email you a course booklet after you register. This will outline each session and suggest some extra background reading for the session.
The introductory session on April 8th is free, but the following 6 sessions will have a total token cost of £10 per person for the whole course. These funds will cover some of the costs of Central London Humanists. All our facilitators and speakers are volunteers from the Central London Humanists.
This course is intended primarily for people in the London area who might later be interested in taking part in some of Central London Humanists’ activities, but people living outside this area are also welcome to join the course.
