There is a revolution brewing in the world of philosophy as it is increasingly recognised that, far from having nothing to contribute to the intellectual development of the world (a view posited by Immanuel Kant), Africa and Asia are laden with rich seams of ideas, that are waiting to be mined by philosophers and scholars of other disciplines. Join our friends at Association of Black Humanists in this edition of StraightTalk, with Dr Julian Baggini, about the sources of and resources for Humanism Beyond Western Philosophy.

“Humanism is often associated with the European Enlightenment, with its mixed record of orientalism, empire and Judaeo-Christian roots. But if we look to Asia and Africa, I think we find philosophical ideas that may actually provide a firmer foundation for 21st century humanism.” – Dr Julian Baggini
